We stayed here because it was close to our daughters apartment. But what began as convenience turned out to be so much more. The hotel was clean. Our room was well maintained. Every staff person we encountered was friendly and helpful. And the rooftop patio has the BEST view! We will stay here again.
My wife and I was in town for a family celebration in August. The hotel was a perfect location for us. This was our first time here and we were very pleased. The room was good for us, king size bed, very comfortable. My wife and I loved the shower, especially the water pressure. Everything we needed right at our convenience. TV, small refrigerator, microwave & coffee maker. I enjoyed the rooftop view, awesome. The weather was not bad as well. We were i n walking distance to restaurants, subway & other attractions. We founded parking outside the hotel, on the street, alongside the property. This will be our go to hotel when in town. Keep up the great work everyone. Customer service was outstanding, from front desk, housekeeping, maintenance & breakfast staff.
We spent one night here and the price was right. Very good location. Walking distance to subway and great food options. Front desk(cersay?) was friendly and helpful. The Bed was comfortable, although sheets were worn. Our room had a good view of the city and bridge. We didn't try the free breakfast.
Would stay here again.
First of all, props to the staff, especially Zillah who checked us in and Fareek (whose name I may have misremembered) who checked us out on New Year's Day. The front desk staff were putting up with a lot of people going in and out for New Year's Eve in Brooklyn and were exceptionally kind and welcoming despite being super busy.
Overall, this hotel is fine. It's down in Gowanus in the adventure sports zone of axe throwing, climbing gyms and shuffleboard. While there's definitely plenty of bars and things to do, plus abundant bodegas and a Whole Foods a few blocks away, this is still located on 3rd Ave, so do not expect to be in the heart of Park Slope. It is walkable to either Park Slope (a couple long blocks uphill) or up to Atlantic terminal and the Barclays Center, but this hotel is closer to the Gowanus canals than Prospect Park. It's also a 15 minute walk to the nearest subway station, which is either the F/G at Bergen Street or the 2/3/4/5 at Atlantic.
And while this location means that the views from the rooms are the industrial zone of Gowanus, the view from the roof is actually quite good. The roof is accessible to all hotel guests, and has chairs to sit and contemplate the views of downtown Brooklyn and lower Manhattan from. I did hear from other guests that you could even see the New Year's Eve fireworks from the roof, which is a nice bonus. Photos are of the roof view
Some other notes about this hotel: the rooms are on the smaller side, more what I'd expect to see in Manhattan than in Brooklyn. The bedding was also a little worn, but the rooms were otherwise very clean, so points to the cleaning staff too. The TVs and internet however were problematic, with a lot of lagging and delay from the remote to the TV. The TVs do have Netflix and YouTube available, but the lag was so bad that we actually gave up trying to use the big screen and just watched on a laptop.
Breakfast also is fine - standard chafing dishes of an egg dish and either sausage or bacon, as well as a permanent oatmeal station and your usual setup of baked goods, yogurt, cereal, etc. Breakfast area/lower lounge is also really nicely decorated and well lit with a lot of large scale prints of Brooklyn and one piece made out of upcycled floppy disks that was particularly noteworthy and interesting. It was actually a nice space to just sit and drink coffee in.
Also, this hotel has a ton of Brooklyn branding. In case you forgot which borough you were in, they have got you covered with merch sales. 😂
My sister got married this past weekend and my family stayed here. Everything was better than perfect. The entire staff was personable and friendly. The cleaning staff included but especially the Front Manager Justin and his associate Jonathan. Literally the best ran hotel I’ve ever visited and will definitely be back when in NY. Thank you JUSTIN!!!
Not for business travelers, make the drive, you'll save yourself some annoyance. However, beautiful rooftop deck... if you want a room that doesn't smell odd, they'll tell you "check out the view upstairs", if you need an iron that works, they'll say "how about that view"! Ask for food recommendations, they point non-committed like over their shoulder, mumble something about "lots of stuff over there" and suggest you check out the view! Seriously, the view is great, but the rooms are tiny, service is nill, and it's expensive. Motel 8 with 30 minute extra drive would be better.
I'll start by saying I would go back to this hotel again if I had reason to be in the neighborhood. But that being said, I offer the following to "manage expectations." This location is acceptable for the price point in a decent area of New York City. People unfamiliar with NYC might consider the neighborhood to be a bit sketchy as 3rd Ave is the western border of the hipster area -- west of 3rd is more industrial than cool. My room was cramped, dull, devoid of any wall hangings and, basically, gray. There are no safes in the rooms. There is a desk chair, but no place to relax other than the bed. The bed was not particularly comfortable. Some of the towels had holes, and the largest ones were definitely not curvy girl friendly. Bring a robe if you are larger than a size 14. Very rough sheets and pillow cases, cheap blanket, flat pillows. I requested my room be made up because I like to come back to a made bed. But on the first two days, I left early and returned around 4 pm to get ready for dinner, etc. and my room had not been attended to. I gave up on day 3 and just hung the DND card. Parking is a plus -- fenced lot right in front of entrance with in/out privileges and reasonably priced. The rooms are quiet -- but I was on a high floor and at the end of the hallway (no street noise and no foot traffic). And the staff was very warm and welcoming. If the location suits your purpose, it should be fine.
My husband and I had an exceptional experience this your hotel. Maybe it was because of all the issues we had prior to our stay, but nonetheless, our stress ended upon arrival. This hotel is beautiful, our room was beautiful, and the staff was far superior to staff we've interacted with at other Marriotts.
We stayed here for a cruise out of Brooklyn and it was just a short Uber ride away.
